How important is it to find the right sponsor and success team when
deciding to build a business in Network Marketing. It's amazing
to us how many people just throw a dart to pick a business partner
to work with. I've seen this many times. People sign up with a
friend or family member who ask them to help them out.
If that friend or family member has experience and is serious about
the business this can turn out to be profitable. If the family
member or friend however, is not really serious or passionate about
what they are doing and a few months later all of a sudden they are
missing in action, not available, and no longer interested
then what do you do?
When someone is actually serious about opening up a real business
where they expect to profit; the best scenario would be to partner
up with people who know what they are doing, have experience in
that industry, have had success themselves and are working the
business full time. It's best to have a sponsor and success team
that is accessible and accountable who offers support,
encouragement, and finds the answers you're looking for when you
have questions. It's also up to you to be coachable and to take
responsibility for your business.
Find out if there's a team training website, Facebook group, where
you can plug in for training, support and encouragement. Do they
offer training calls or webinars? Do they do 3/way calls with
their team? Do they offer personal coaching calls? Can you reach
them within a reasonable amount of time by phone or email? Ask
them if they offer a road map for success such as a Marketing
Action Plan, which is a great way for a new business owner to set
goals and write up a business plan and to help stay accountable.
Make sure everything is in place so that you do not have to reinvent
the wheel which can be time consuming and frustrating for any
business owner who's just getting started.
When looking at starting a home business in Network Marketing do
your due diligence and scout out a talented sponsor and success
team. This doesn't necessarily mean to sign up with the top
distributor of the company or with someone who's a heavy recruiter.
Sometimes that can be a mistake because these people are usually
not as assessable if they have a lot of people they are working
with and it's possible you could fall through the cracks.
So be wise when searching for a sponsor and by all means
it's really not a very good idea to join something online with
someone you have never spoken with or met.
According to 33 year industry leader and trainer Rod Nichols,
selecting the right company is one of the first steps to success in
starting a Network Marketing business. Here's what Rod
recommends -
The first key is to pick the best network marketing company; one
that can be proudly represented. History proves that there are five
pillars to a successful network marketing company:
1. Management - the management team must include people who have
experience building large, successful traditional businesses and
also successful network marketing representativeships. This is the
best of both worlds - they know how to build a big business and
they think like representatives. Also, look for a visionary leader
heading up the company, a behind the scenes operations person, a
marketing genius, and a trainer/teacher. This overall combination
will produce a winner in the management pillar.
2. Product/Service - historically products out-perform services,
but there are a few top network marketing companies that offer
services, so don't completely discount them. The keys here are that
the product or service is something people would use and become
passionate about, even if they aren't involved in the business. The
product or service should be such that customers and
representatives need to buy it at least monthly via an automatic
purchase program. The product/service should have both present and
future demand and appeal to the masses (all ages, genders, ethnic
groups, etc). It's a huge plus if the product or service is unique
(patented or exclusive).
3. Trends - look for powerful market trends that will drive the
company through massive exponential growth and you've got a real
winner. Anything the Baby Boomers (those people born between 1946
and 1964) want will be a big hit. Anything the media is talking
about (that also has future demand) is probably going to be big.
Look around you. Read books and articles that are talking about
trends and then find a network marketing company with
products/services that fit those trends. For example, a huge
present and future trend is health and wellness, so those companies
that are marketing health and wellness products are going to enjoy
growth due to this powerful trend.
4. Compensation - every network marketing company offers a
compensation plan, which is how representatives are paid. A good
plan will enable the average person, who will historically only
sponsor 2-4 people, to make enough money to cover their monthly
product purchase within their first 90 days. The plan will also
have solid middle money for those who want to replace their job
income and great back end money, providing the potential for high
six and seven figure incomes. The compensation plan should also be
easy to understand and explain.
5. Training and Support - a primary reason people fail is that they
aren't trained and supported properly. The company should provide
training on the products/services, compensation plan, back office
system, and business building. A legitimate company offer
replicable representative web sites, weekly webinars/
teleconferences, and live meetings. A good upline team will provide
deeper training and support (three-way calls, prospect meetings,
conference calls).
